You are missed, dammit.
I'm on the comeback trail, Jose. Gotta lotta goodies in store. Miss you too. I try to read your blog but it breaks my goddamn heart. Hope you are OK.
Your Friend,
David
No worries. I'm on the comeback trail as well. New girl, new iMac, new Pro Tools installation and Stanley. Couldn't be better. Life goes on.
C
Stanley? I thought he was at my house, shit.
Great to hear, seriously. Where can I hear some of that Pro Tools stuff? I've been rocking Garage Band myself. I like how things can't get too complicated. Plus they do most of the work for you. It's more like Tetris than recording.
Mmmmmm, Tetris.
I should probably have gone a less complicated route. I wanted something that could record at 96/24 for hi-res archiving. I've never used Garage Band actually. Still learning Pro Tools - it's quite the bitch - but have been recommended a cheap program called Reaper which is supposed to outdo Pro Tools in many respects. I've only recorded some test recordings to try to get the hang of it, but the new band will be recording in the coming months, so I'll be learning as I go.
Didn't you have a Pro Tools setup at one point?
Yeah, but things got wonky... can't quite remember why. It's definitely far more program than GarageBand... I mean, you make real records on it and stuff. GB is kind of for kids. But I thought that new one I put up today kind of had some real bottom to it, no? Anyway, it took me about seven months to get comfortable with PT so don't get discouraged. Once you hit the tipping point you'll be super-charged about how quick and easy things get.
What's this band called? And the new girl?
The band is called Outcross, and the girl is called Jaimi.
I must say, listening to these makes me want to play around in Garage Band a little bit. Might be a nice place to work out ideas before I go in for surgery. The last two posted were particularly tasty.
"Sweet Sunshine Redux" would make a good bonus track for the international/import edition.
Outcross, Jaimi. Jaimi. Sounds Bulgarian?
Yeah, go for the GB, it IS good practice for the realie. You can only fly so high so it's a good environment to think tank ideas before wasting someone else's time with them. Then again, too much rehearsal is not good, either.
Sweet Sunshine is still wrapped up in the middle of two shockingly unrecouped business arrangements at the moment, so it is dead to me until 2011, I think. But thanks for the props.
Jaimi is Jewish. I think Stanley has been converted as well.
Outcross has a three year plan - first an EP of stuff we originally recorded in 1997/8; an album of CS originals originally recorded during the turbulent 1994/5 era - and then an album of all new stuff. Pricing a vinyl release.

It's never too late. And 2011 isn't too far away, kinda like heaven.
Good song....sounds liked a track off of The Beach Boys' Friends album. I wonder if you dig/know that album?
